Aberfoyle Spring Special Antique Show 2012

It was worth rising & shining much earlier than I normally would on a Saturday in order to take in the Aberfoyle Spring Special Antique Show.

We scored a whole wack of new (vintage) pieces for the Lamp Orphanage, and stumbled across a bunch more interesting finds.

Here are a few that caught my eye...

I have a thing for glass jugs... Pretty & sculptural, what's not to love?

Everyone has blue globes... This black one is so much more interesting!

I'm pretty sure I've seen this cabinet at other shows, and may have even posted about it before, but here it is again... Because I LOVE it! It's gorgeous in it's current state of patina, but imagine it sprayed out in a bold, punchy colour?!

This set of lamps was amazing. Unfortunately, I had to break it up... You'll find the table lamp in the Orphanage, but since we don't stock floor lamps, I had to leave it's mate behind.

This booth had crates a plenty. Just think of all the possible uses!

And what's a Saturday morning without a little side of creepy Bowie?

Head on over to the Style at Home Blog, where I've shared a few more interesting finds from the show!

Custom Work… Hollie's Horse Head Lamp

When I first laid eyes on Hollie Cooper's horse head lamp, I fell in love. Hollie's friend, Christine Dovey, had purchased it for her on Etsy as a gift. But sadly, when the lamp arrived, they found that the fittings were loose causing the shade to tilt to one side.

The shade that sat atop this gorgeous base was more of a placeholder while Hollie searched for something that would bring the lamp to life.

Enter Mod Pieces.

Hollie was amazing to work with because she wasn't afraid to introduce bold colours or patterns. She wanted to create a statement piece, and that we did.

I sourced some fabric options and we settled on this fabulous print from Duralee. The pairing of this fabric with this base fits with one of my fave design mottos... It doesn't match, it goes.

The golden colour of the pattern, layered over the neutral cream background, references the flecks of gold on the base without being too matchy-matchy.

This is an excellent example of how three neutral colours can come together to create something that's anything but average.

The final result is a show stopping piece, unlike any other, that Hollie can treasure for years to come.

Trend Spotting - Construction Site Chic

What happens when you take something ordinary and rethink the finish?

This happens...

Mirrored Pallets - Garth Roberts

Wooden Cinder Blocks - Sergio Silva

Two different designers, Garth Roberts & Sergio Silva, have taken everyday objects found around most construction sites and turned them into chic, architectural, art objects.

I think we're going to see a lot more of this concept in the coming months.

What do you think? Can you get on board with this look?

New Inventory At Centro Garden!

Lola & The Hazel Twins are now available through Centro Garden.

Every time I walk in to Centro, it's clear that my lamps have found the perfect temporary home. The style of my pieces blend seamlessly with all the other goodies Centro has in store.

See for yourself...

The folks over at Centro are so great about capturing their vignettes in photographs and sharing them with their community over on their blog.

I think the girls look just stunning mixed amongst these tarnished trophies, industrial elements & natural wood accents.

Do I spy a metal, armed, moose sculpture/coat hook? Um, cool!

Is this giving you some ideas for you own home?

How fabulous are these weathered barrels & bins? Talk about beautiful & functional storage. They sure beat a plain old basket!

The polished quality of the lamps against the raw metal & brick adds tension and keeps the whole look interesting.

If it's been a while since you stopped by, take some time to pop in to Centro Garden this week before these babies get scooped up!
